Giulietta is based between London and Cornwall in the United Kingdom, working as a documentary photographer and filmmaker. Her work concentrates on long-term projects, often exploring social and environmental issues, as well as commercial and editorial commissions that take place at home and abroad.
Verdon-Roe's work has been shown Internationally including; The Photographers' Gallery, Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), International Center of Photography (ICP), Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), The Dog Eared Gallery, Rich Mix, St Pancras International and The White Cloth Gallery. Giulietta has also given talks at various institutions such as The Stills Gallery in Edinburgh, the University of the Philippines Manila, Tullie House and Chelsea College of Art. She has been commissioned to work internationally, including assignments in India, Russia, USA, Philippines and the South Pacific.

After receiving a BA degree in English Literature at Newcastle University, Giulietta moved to New York City to study Photography at ICP. Graduating she worked as photographer and with the photo editing desk at the Village Voice, America’s largest weekly newspaper. Giulietta then worked as a traditional Black and White Printer to Master Printer Teresa Engle Moreno, working with negatives by photographers such as Robert Capa, Bruce Davidson and Andreas Feininger.
In 2007 Giulietta went to the Philippines to teach photography to children and adults at Foto Baryo, a photography school setup to promote cross-cultural and cross-class communication through photography. Her stay culminated in curating a show of her students’ work, Sa Ating Paningin – Through Our Eyes. This work was then displayed in 2008 as part of a larger show FOTO BARYO at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
From 2008 onwards Giulietta setup Fovea Pictures a bespoke stills production company, where she built a diverse range of clients from the corportate, editorial and arts sectors. For over ten years she ran this company balancing commissions, whilst her personal work focused on long term documentary projects.
In 2013 Giulietta completed an MA in Documentary Film at London College of Commuication (LCC), receiving a Distinction. During this Degree she worked on two short documentary films; USIZI, which she Directed and Edited and LEVITA that she worked on as a Director of Photography on location in the South Pacific, with Director and Editor Victoria Burns. These and other film work were screened at locations such as the Hackney Picture House, BFI and on BBC3's channel BBC Fresh; specifically to highlight the work of upcoming film Directors. Giulietta then began working as what is known in the film industry as a 'preditor'; offering all parts of the film production process through Fovea Picures such as; directing, producing, research, cinematography, editing, sound and colour grading. This work took her to undertaking and completeing films in locations such as Moscow to Londons Royal Ballet.
In 2016 she travelled to Australia to complete an intensive pottery apprenticeship with Master potter Steve Sheridan. Since 2016 she has setup a pottery and school Crown Works Pottery, working under her married name Giulietta Hextall, in a beautiful Victorian Mews in East London. This now employs over 22 artists and she runs a huge amount of classes to the public, becoming a hidden gem for many.
She welcomes assignments in the UK and abroad.
